Speeches by the key persons of the Fed!
Dear traders,
This week the markets will be attracted by about ten speeches of Federal Reserve officials. Traders want information on the rate of further interest rate increase of the US central bank this year.
In focus will be the speech of the head of the Fed, Jerome Powell, at a conference held in Zurich by the National Bank of Switzerland and the IMF. Powell should deliver a speech titled “The Impact of Monetary Policy on the Global Financial Situation and International Capital Flows”.
The week also includes performances by Fed Chairman Randal Kvars, President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta Rafael Bostic, Head of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond Thomas Barkin, FBI President Dallas Robert Kaplan, FRB President Charles Evans and St. Louis James Ballard, FRB President.
As a result of its meeting on Wednesday, the Fed predictably kept the interest rate unchanged. At the same time, the statement of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) noted an acceleration of inflation, which coincides with the rate of increase in the cost of loan funds in June.
At the moment, the US central bank plans two more interest rate increases in 2018. However, in recent weeks, market analysts’ forecasts for three such increases have strengthened against the backdrop of the prospects for accelerating inflation.
Investors will also monitor the US dollar rate and the profitability of the US government bonds after the dollar went up on Friday to the high of this year against a basket of other currencies, while the profitability of the US ten-year bonds is held at around 3%. (Investing.com)
