The British pound continues to strengthen its position after the publication of data on the social sector of Great Britain.

• The change in the number of applications for unemployment benefits amounted to 8.6 thousand, exceeding the forecast of analysts at 3.55 thousand. However, this value is lower than the previous figure at 12.2 thousand.
• The unemployment rate remains at around 4.3%. The average weekly income, total payments remain at 2.5%, against analysts’ forecast at 2.3%.

Technical analysis: During today’s trades, the pair GBP/USD broke through the resistance line of the rising channel on H1 what indicates the strengthening of the upward short-term trend. The main resistance levels at the moment are 1.4140, 1.4200. Support levels are 1.4000, 1.3950.
