Expectations for the upcoming week
The upcoming week promises to be very calm in terms of planned news, which will be dosed out throughout the week. In addition to significant statistics that will be published during the week (the Economic Calendar), it is worth highlighting the speech of the ECB head, the meeting of the Bank of Canada, the publication of the ECB protocol and inflation in the United States. However, expectations from these news remain very low-key, except for the interest rate decision of the Bank of Canada, which is expected to raise rates to around 1.50%. At the same time, the market has partly taken into account this increase, and will expect hints of further tightening of monetary policy in Canada, which will increase volatility on the Canadian currency.
The trade confrontation between the US and China stays as potential risk this week, from which new hints of new duties are possible. At the same time, the focus of political risks from Germany has again shifted to the UK, which will heighten concerns about Brexit. (Hanzenko Anton)
