Forum of the European Central Bank!
Dear traders,
The fifth annual forum of the European Central Bank will be held from Monday to Wednesday in the Portuguese city of Sintra.
The focus of the forum participants will be prices and salary growth in the developed countries of the world.
During three days of meetings and panel discussions, about 150 heads of central banks, academicians, financial analysts and highly qualified financial specialists will exchange views on the problems of modern monetary policy and finance in the long term.
The main event of the summit, most likely, will be a panel discussion on Wednesday, which will be attended by ECB President Mario Draghi, Fed Chairman Jerome Powell and Bank of Japan Governor Haruhiko Kuroda.
All three last week gave a press conference after the meetings of the central banks of their countries.
On Friday, the Bank of Japan retained its monetary policy unchanged and lowered the inflation forecast compared with the April forecasts. This indicates that the Bank of Japan will not hurry with the winding down of its large-scale financial incentive program.
On Thursday, the ECB announced that it will not raise the interest rate until the summer of 2019. Suddenly, a mild outlook on the interest rate increase was more important than the ECB’s plans to complete its financial incentive program before the end of this year.
On the other hand, the Fed on Wednesday for the second time this year increased the interest rate and changed the tone of its forecasts towards a more stringent monetary policy, predicting two more interest rate hikes by the end of this year (previously it was planned only three interest rate increases this year ).
