On Friday, February 23, 2018, it is worthwhile to focus on the data on the consumer price index of Canada. The basic index of consumer prices reflects the change in the price of goods and services from the consumer’s point of view. This indicator is a key indicator of inflation in Canada.
According to the forecast, the base consumer price index in January will grow by 0.7%, against the decline in December at the level of -0.5%. On an annualized basis, the growth rate will remain at 1.2%. The consumer price index will grow by 0.1%, against the decline in the previous period at the level of -0.4%. On an annualized basis, the growth rate will be 2.1%, which exceeds the previous value of 1.9%. The release of data within the forecast will support the Canadian currency, against which one should expect its growth in the range of 30-40 points.
