The dollar remains positive. Data on expenditure on personal consumption in the US

The US dollar remains positive regarding the basket of currencies after the publication of data on spending on personal consumption in the US.

• The price index of personal consumption expenditure increased by 0.1% in December, while analysts expected the index to change at the level of 0.0%. On an annualized basis, the growth slowed to 1.7%, against the previous level of 1.8%.
• The basic price index of personal consumption expenditure increased by 0.2% in December, exceeding the previous value of 0.1%. On an annualized basis, the growth rate remained at 1.5%, while analysts had expected a decline to 1.4%.
• The expenses of individuals increased by 0.4%, exceeding the forecast of analysts at the level of 0.8%.

The US dollar index is regaining its positions, reaching the level of 89.26. This growth in the US dollar, to a greater extent, is due to the correction of market positions ahead of the Fed meeting and the publication of a key report on employment in the US.
