Analysis of the American trading session

During the American session on Wednesday, October 18, 2017, the US dollar declined against most of the major market currencies. Pressure on the US currency was caused by a flat statistic data on the real estate market in the US.

• The number of permits issued for construction in September fell to 1.215M, against the value of August at 1.272M.
• The volume of construction of new houses in September decreased to 1,127M, which is lower than the value of August at 1,183M.

This decline in the real estate sector was caused by a number of hurricanes in the US.

The Canadian dollar strengthened its position against the US dollar during the American session, which was caused by the general weakness of the US dollar, as well as by positive statistics data on Canada. Volume of sales in the manufacturing sector in Canada grew by 1.6% in August, against a decline of -2.6% in July.
