TODAY: Inflation data in the euro area
Dear traders,
Today, at 12:00 inflation data in the euro area for August will be published.
- According to the consensus forecast, it is expected that consumer prices in August rose by 2.1%, which corresponds to the growth rate for July.
The core inflation indicator does not include energy and food prices. According to forecasts, core inflation will remain steady at a growth rate of 1.1%, unchanged from the preceding month.
- The ECB targets inflation of close to but just below 2% for the eurozone as a whole.
- The ECB aims to end its bond purchasing program by the end of the year and has signaled a possible interest rate hike next year.
However, worries that growth in the region appears to have peaked, combined with concerns over a trade dispute with the US, have brought the ECB pessimists out of the woodwork in recent weeks. (Investing.com)
