ALREADY IN AN HOUR: Preliminary information on the UK GDP
Dear traders,
In an hour, at 11:30 (Kiyv), a report on the GDP of the UK (preliminary data) will be published.
- It is projected that the UK’s economic growth for the first quarter of 2018 will be 0.3% after a similar growth of 0.4% in the fourth quarter of last year.
- On an annualized basis, the growth rate of the British economy in the first quarter is expected at 1.4%, which coincides with the growth rate for the fourth quarter of 2017.
Last month, the Bank of England voted to keep the interest rate at the same level, but two officials suddenly voted to raise it. This speaks for a tightening of monetary policy in May. This will be just the second increase in the interest rate since the financial crisis in 2008.
The pace of growth in the UK economy lags behind the global pace of economic recovery. However, the British economy managed to avoid the worst scenario, which was predicted after the vote in 2016. (Investing.com)
