On Tuesday, March 20, 2018, attention should be focused on the UK consumer price index. The consumer price index (CPI) measures the change in the prices of goods and services from the consumer’s point of view. This is a key way to measure changes in the UK buying and inflation trends.

According to the forecast, in February the indicator (CPI) will grow by 0.6%, against the decrease in the previous month at the level of -0.5%. On an annualized basis, the indicator will fall to 2.9%, which is lower than the previous level at 3.0%. The base consumer price index on an annualized basis will slow the growth to 2.5%, against the previous value of 2.7%. In case of data release within the forecast, the pound may be under pressure, as the slowdown in inflation will lower the chances of raising the Bank of England interest rate, against which one should expect the British currency to fall within 40 points against its competitors.
