MAJOR EVENTS OF THE WEEK: WHAT IS AT THE FOCUS?

This week, investors will monitor the progress of tax reform in the United States. The bill, providing for a significant tax cut, was promulgated by Republicans. Donald Trump will begin his first presidential visit to Asia, and he expects statements on the DPRK. On Friday at the APEC summit in Vietnam, Trump will meet with Russian President Putin.
This week the participants of the market will focus on the speeches of the heads of the Federal Reserve and the ECB, the meeting of the Reserve Bank of Australia and New Zealand, as well as economic statistics of medium importance.
- Monday
The economic calendar for today has a little important statistics. The most interesting are data on the inflation of producers in the US and business activity in Canada. So the greatest interest in the currency market today is represented by Canadian and European currencies.
- Tuesday
Tuesday is one of the most interesting days of the week. Early in the morning at 5:30 (Kiev), the Reserve Bank of Australia will announce the results of the next meeting.
In the middle of the day, the focus will shift to the euro area. At 11:00 (Kiev), ECB President Mario Draghi will hold a speech, and later at 12:00 the retail sales figures will be published with a positive outlook.
In the evening, the financial markets will be full of North American statistics. In the US at 17:00 (Kiev) will be publication of data on the labor market with a negative outlook. At 19:55, the head of the Bank of Canada will hold a speech, and at 21:30 (Kyiv), the head of the Federal Reserve, Janet Yellen, will hold a speech.
- Wednesday
Wednesday at 15:15 (Kiev), publication of data on the housing market of Canada with a negative outlook, data on US oil reserves from the Ministry of Energy at 17:30.
Late in the evening at 22:00 (Kiev), the Reserve Bank of New Zealand will publish decisions after the meeting. So the most interesting will be the Canadian and New Zealand dollars, as well as oil and related assets.
- Thursday
The economic calendar for Thursday is not so full of news. During the day, data of medium importance will be published on Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States.
- Friday
On Friday, the most interesting event is a report on industrial production in the UK with a positive outlook. All attention will be paid to the British pound.
