The US dollar remains under pressure. Data on sales of new housing in the US

The US dollar remains under pressure at the beginning of American trading. The main pressure on the US dollar is exerted by the first bell of the start of the trade war. In the United States, tariffs for China were announced for $ 50 billion, which provoked retaliatory countermeasures by China, namely, an increase in tariffs for 128 goods from the States. Additional pressure on the US dollar has been caused by a decrease in sales of new housing in the United States.

• According to published data, sales of new housing fell in February by -0,6%, while analysts expected growth at the level of 4,4%.
• The volume of sales amounted to 618 thousand, which is lower than the previous value at the level of 622 thousand.

The US dollar index remains near the low of today’s trading, at 89.13. It should be noted that by the end of today no significant economic data is expected to be published, in the background of which market participants can take a cautious stance in anticipation of new reports about the unfolding of the trade war, which may reduce market volatility before the end of the American session.
