Analysis of the American session
The US Friday session closed with a decrease of the American dollar on the growth of risks that were caused by the increase in tension around the trade standoff. For example, the United States increased duties on Chinese goods to 25%, to which China responded with a promise to take similar retaliatory measures. Against the background of the aggravation of the trade conflict, there was an increase in volatility in the market, which put an additional pressure on the US dollar. But, despite the growing fears, the American dollar continues to act as a safe asset against commodity currencies.
The US dollar index closed trading on Friday slightly below the opening level and updated a month’s low. This indicates a continued downside potential. In the face of increasing risks of trade opposition, attempts to strengthen are not excluded. In the meantime, the US dollar index is limited to the side trading range from 97.40 to 97.10.
