ALREADY IN AN HOUR: Inflation data in the UK!
Dear traders,
In an hour, at 11:30 (Kiev), the National Statistical Service of Great Britain (ONS) will publish data on inflation in December. Analysts predict that the growth rate of consumer prices will drop to 3.0% after in November this indicator reached a maximum in six years of 3.1%. Under forecasts, the core inflation will also slow down to 2.6% after a 2.7% in November.
- In the UK, traders will also focus on this Friday’s report on retail sales to get new signals about Brexit’s impact on the economy.
- Investors will also be interested in the speeches of Bank of England officials Silvana Tenreyro and Michael Sanders, who can provide information on the future course of monetary policy.
- Market participants will also follow any news about the progress of negotiations regarding the forthcoming UK withdrawal from the EU.
In November, the Bank of England raised interest rates for the first time in the last ten years, but said it plans to continue its gradual growth until the UK prepares to withdraw from the EU.
