According to the forecasts of most experts, this week the Bank of England will keep the interest rate unchanged. However, the main attention will be focused on the forecasts of the central bank of Great Britain regarding the possibility of raising the interest rate in 2018.
The decision of the Bank of England will be announced at 15:00 Kiev time. After it, no press conference is planned, although the Governor of the Bank of England Mark Carney will speak at an annual dinner of bankers in the London Mansion House this evening.
The survey of economists that were published earlier this month, showed that the Bank of England is likely to raise the interest rate in August. However, it will depend on whether officials of the UK central bank will receive confirmation that the slowdown in the country’s economic growth in early 2018 was temporary.
The Bank of England has previously said that before the second interest rate increase since the time of the global financial crisis, it wants to be sure in the resumption of economic growth after the unusually cold start of this year.
Market analysts give a probability of slightly above 50% of the fact that as a result of the Bank of England meeting in August, the interest rate will be increased. (Investing.com)
