Market Focus
On Wednesday, May 9, 2018, attention should be paid to the US economic calendar, namely the data on the producer price index (PPI). The producer price index (PPI) is an inflation indicator and measures the average change in the prices of goods and services of domestic production from the point of view of the seller. When producers pay more for goods and services, they thereby shift higher costs to the consumer, which increases consumer spending.
According to the forecast, the change in the producer price index (PPI) in April will be at the level of 0.0%, against the March value of 0.3%. In annual terms, the growth rate will be 3.1%, which is higher than the previous value at 3.0%. In case of data release within the forecast, the reaction of the US dollar may be ambiguous, against the background of which one should expect the movement of the US currency within 30 points against competitors.
