On Thursday, February 22, 2018, it is worthwhile to focus on the data on the retail sales index and the amount of retail sales in Canada. The base retail sales index is a measure of all sold goods of different types of retail trade except auto. These values are important indicators of consumer spending and the pace of economic development.

According to the forecast, the base retail sales index in December will change by 0.0%, against the growth in November at 1.6%. The change in the volume of retail sales will make in December – 0.1%, against the growth in the previous period at 0.2%. The release of data within the forecast will put pressure on the Canadian currency, against which the decrease in the range of 30-40 points is expected.
