FOCUS OF THE WEEK!
Dear traders,
The first week of 2019 will be short, but saturated with significant statistics. Thus, in the first half of the week, market activity will be low due to the celebration of the New Year. Starting from Wednesday, the trading volume will gradually return to the market, but it will remain low. At the same time, the first working week of the year will be saturated with business activity data (PMI) on Wednesday and Thursday. But most of the news is expected on Friday due to the celebration of the New Year.
On Friday the following data from the extensive list of statistics is worth highlighting :
- Employment data in Germany, which, according to the forecast, can support the euro.
- Inflation report in the euro area, which, on the contrary, will put pressure on the single currency due to weak expectations.
- And an employment report in the United States, the expectations for which restrained positive. But the speech of US Federal Reserve Chairman Powell will more influence the dollar.
Fundamental factors for this week are the problems with the US government shutdown and the US President Trump and Fed Chairman Powell opposition, on which the US dollar dynamics will depend largely. (Anton Hanzenko)
