Inflation data on the euro area

Statistics on the consumer price index in the euro area, as expected, remained at the same level. The consumer price index (CPI) in the euro area (y/y) remains at 1.5%, the average rate since July this year. For more information about this statistic, see the News Feed.

It is also worth noting that since April of this year, the growth of the CPI in the euro area has slowed significantly. Considering the ECB’s recent comments by M. Draghi, this may increase fears of slowing the growth of inflationary pressures in the euro area. Despite the fact that the existing level corresponds to the beginning of 2013, the growth of this indicator since the beginning of 2017 remains limited and remains very ambiguous, which preserves some risks.
