WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THIS WEEK
Dear traders,
This week a number of major world central banks will hold meetings on monetary policy. The Bank of Japan will decide on the rate on Tuesday, the US Federal Reserve on Wednesday, and the British Central Bank on Thursday. Investors do not expect an increase in the Fed’s rate this month; presumably, this will happen in December.
In addition, the president of the United States should announce the final candidate for the post of head of the Federal Reserve until the end of the week. The most likely candidates are the supporter of moderate increases of rates Powell and “hard” Taylor.
Publication of the draft tax reform by Donald Trump may be an important event.
On Thursday, the meeting of the Minister of Oil of Saudi Arabia al-Falih and the head of the Ministry of Energy of Russia Novak will be held. The meeting will be focus on plans for further actions to reduce production by OPEC + countries.
The new week will also be full with macro-statistics on the US. A key report on employment outside agriculture for October will be published on Friday. Today, on Monday, there will be data on consumer spending – an important indicator for calculating inflation.
