Analysis of the American Trading Session

During the American session on Monday, April 30, 2018, the US dollar showed mixed dynamics and practically did not change its positions against most of the major currencies of the market. Some influence on the course of trading was provided by mixed data on unfinished sales in the housing market in the US. For more details, see “The US Dollar slowed growth”.

The British pound strengthened its position against the US dollar in the course of US trading, amid a slight weakening of the US currency, and also due to a partial profit-taking by investors in short positions. Earlier pressure on the pound had raised concerns about the Irish border. EU Chief Negotiator Barnier noted that by June the issue with the Irish border should be resolved, without which an agreement on withdrawal can not be signed.
