Analysis of the American Trading Session

During the American session on Tuesday, April 17, 2013, the US dollar showed mixed dynamics, but still strengthened against most of the major market currencies. In general, the strengthening of the American was due to an increase in the yield of US government bonds, as well as profit-taking after the weakening of the US currency on Monday.

Additional support for the US dollar was provided by positive data on construction in the United States.

• According to published data, construction permits amounted to 1.354 million, exceeding the previous value of 1.321 million.
• The volume of construction of new houses increased to the level of 1.319 million, against the previous value of 1.236 million.
