Analysis of the American trading session

During the American session on Wednesday, January 31, 2018, the US dollar strengthened its positions against most of the major market currencies. In general, the growth of the US currency was associated with the correction of positions in anticipation of the publication of the results of the January meeting of the Fed. Some support for the American was provided by positive statistics on the United States.

• The change in the number of non-agricultural workers from ADP amounted to 234 thousand, exceeding the forecast of analysts at 192 thousand.
• Unfinished sales in the real estate market in December increased by 0.5%, exceeding the November growth of 0.3%. On annualized basis, the growth rate was 0.5%, exceeding analysts’ expectations at the level of -0.6%.

As for the Fed meeting, the interest rate was maintained at 1.5%. In its statement, the leadership of the Central Bank did not signal a change in the policy of monetary policy. It was also noted that the economy continues to grow at a moderate pace, the labor market remains strong. The Fed’s management expects inflation to stabilize around 2% in the medium term.
